Girl scouts work together to plant bare root plants purchased from Bluestem Prairie Nursery near Hillsboro.

It will be interesting to track the progress of various parts of the restoration. Some have been replanted from seed, and some have been enhanced with bare root plants.

Hopefully, the lessons we learn in the early parts of the restoration will guide our decisions as we continue our work.

Scouts helped us reintroduce more than 160 bare root plants to the valley as part of our savanna reconstruction. Since some natives were already present, we decided to add plants and continue to manage the area with fire.

Plants were introduced into a recently burned area. Some native vegetation has been found, so plants are being introduced instead of the area being started from scratch.
