Illinois is host to thousands of American bald eagles during the winter months when they congregate along the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers where water remains open for fishing.

Many Illinois communities have developed eagle-watching events to help visitors successfully view eagles and learn about their natural history.

The Illinois Raptor Center is proud to be part of several of these celebrations. Opportunities to see eagles at these locations should continue through late-February, depending on the weather.

For questions about eagle watching, follow the links to pages about the individual events for local contact information.
